Importing Instagram & TikTok Posts

Make your social content shoppable. After Instagram or TikTok is connected, you can bring recent posts onto your Upsyte and keep a shopping destination on the content you are already sharing.

What happens when you import your posts?

Open the published Upsyte, then Analytics, then Social. Instagram imports use the connected Instagram account. TikTok imports use the connected TikTok account, and only when TikTok has granted video access. Each new post becomes a draft, unless Sync is already on.

  • Import recent Instagram posts pulls recent media from that account. Photos use the image. Videos use the thumbnail. A post you already imported is skipped.
  • Import recent TikTok videos pulls recent videos and their cover image. The video file itself is not played inside Upsyte.
  • On a draft, choose Add to Instagram Highlights or Add to TikTok Highlights. That publishes it as a Highlight marked Instagram or TikTok.
  • Sync, on that same panel, checks for new posts on the schedule you set. While Sync is on, those new posts are published straight onto Highlights. Turning Sync on also publishes drafts that were still waiting.

Instagram and TikTok content in one place

Approved posts show in Highlights, next to anything you added yourself. Visitors do not see the import drafts. If more than one source has visible items, Highlights shows tabs: Highlights, Instagram, and TikTok. A tab appears only when that source has something visible, so people can switch between your own items, Instagram, and TikTok.

How shopping links work

Instagram post with a link in the caption → Upsyte Highlight → that link → the product, store, or page you already shared.

On Instagram, Upsyte reads URLs written in the caption. The first one becomes the Highlight link. The import card shows it as Destination link when it is different from the Instagram post. A product sticker or Instagram Shop tag is not read. If the caption has no URL, the Highlight links back to the Instagram post.

TikTok video → Upsyte Highlight → the TikTok video. Upsyte does not pull a separate product URL out of a TikTok caption or TikTok Shop. After the video is a Highlight, you can edit its link and point it at a store page yourself. The button label starts as View, and you can change that too.

What your visitors see

  • A cover or photo, the short title, and the caption as the description.
  • On tiles, a View button when the Highlight has a link. On cards, the card itself opens that link.
  • The click leaves Upsyte and opens the address on the Highlight. Upsyte records the click. It does not take payment or complete an order on the other site.
  • If a cover image cannot be copied onto Upsyte, the original image address is still used.

Turning existing content into a shopping journey

Put the product or store URL in the Instagram caption before you import, then add the post to Instagram Highlights. Visitors who open that Highlight go to the same place you shared. For TikTok, import the video, add it to TikTok Highlights, then set the Highlight link to the store if you want the click to leave TikTok. Your own Highlights can stay on the Highlights tab beside them.

Things to know

  • Import does not post anything back to Instagram or TikTok.
  • TikTok import needs video access. If that permission is missing, reconnect TikTok. The TikTok guide covers what else TikTok does not do.
  • Owners import the Instagram account that is connected. Typing a different handle is an admin action.
  • A missing caption link does not block the import. The Highlight still appears, and its link is the original post until you change it.
  • Upsyte does not guarantee a sale, and it does not process the store’s checkout.
