Valve has officially launched its new Steam Machine, a compact powerhouse designed to bring full PC gaming performance to the big screen. After years of anticipation following the success of the Steam Deck, this living-room console marks a bold step in Valve's hardware ambitions.
A New Era for Steam Hardware The Steam Machine revives the concept from over a decade ago but with modern specs tailored for today's demanding games. It's a small-form-factor PC running SteamOS 3, optimized for seamless integration with your Steam library.

This sleek ~6-inch cube delivers impressive performance while staying whisper-quiet, making it ideal for couch gaming sessions.
Under the hood, the base Steam Machine features a semi-custom AMD Zen 4 6-core/12-thread CPU, paired with a semi-custom AMD RDNA3 GPU boasting 28 Compute Units. It comes with 16GB DDR5 system RAM plus 8GB GDDR6 VRAM, and starts with a 512GB NVMe SSD (expandable via microSD).
Higher storage options go up to 2TB. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, Gigabit Ethernet, and built-in support for wireless Steam Controllers.
Compared to the Steam Deck OLED, the Steam Machine offers significantly more horsepower — reportedly up to six times in some scenarios — for smoother AAA gameplay at higher resolutions and frame rates on your TV.
Pricing Breakdown The entry-level 512GB model starts at $1,049, with a bundle including the new Steam Controller at $1,128. The 2TB version jumps to $1,349 (or $1,428 bundled). Valve notes these prices reflect current component costs without heavy subsidies, differing from traditional consoles.
Reservations are live via a lottery system, with shipping expected this summer.
