Bungie has officially announced the conclusion of active live service development for Destiny 2. After nearly a decade of epic raids, evolving stories, and a dedicated Guardian community, the studio is turning the page.
This marks a significant moment for one of gaming's most ambitious shared-world shooters.
On June 9, 2026, Bungie will release Destiny 2: Monument of Triumph, the game's final live-service content update. This free update serves as a grand celebration and "collection of love letters" to players, incorporating features originally planned for future content.
It includes refreshed activities, new abilities, Pantheon 2.0 as a permanent addition, updated raid and dungeon loot with modern perks, a revived Director interface, Sparrow Racing League's return, and narrative beats providing closure for characters and story threads.

The game will remain fully playable afterward, much like the original Destiny today, with Bungie ensuring it stays a welcoming space for veterans and newcomers alike.
This shift allows Bungie to focus on incubating new projects. The studio, known for Halo and now supporting Marathon (their extraction shooter), is prioritizing fresh experiences. No official confirmation on Destiny 3 has been shared, but the Destiny universe is expected to evolve beyond Destiny 2.

Guardians have forged unforgettable memories across Sol, from the Cosmodrome to the Pale Heart. This update honors that legacy with triumphs, rewards, and quality-of-life improvements designed to make returning rewarding.
While weekly major updates will wind down, Bungie plans to maintain communication through social channels. The focus now shifts to celebrating what's been built and exploring new frontiers.
