Nicolas Cage Swings Into the Shadows: Spider-Noir Delivers Noir Thrills on Prime Video

Nicolas Cage steps into the iconic trench coat as Ben Reilly in Spider-Noir, the live-action series that's redefining the Spider-Man mythos with a gritty 1930s twist. Released just days ago, this eight-episode season has fans buzzing about its pulpy detective vibes and Cage's unhinged energy.

The Release and Where to Stream

Spider-Noir dropped its full first season on Prime Video globally on May 27, 2026, following a May 25 debut on MGM+ in the US. All episodes are available now for a complete binge.

The series follows an aging private investigator pulled back into his past as a web-slinging vigilante amid mobsters, monsters, and moral dilemmas in Depression-era New York.

How to Watch in Authentic Black and White

Prime Video offers viewers a choice: "Authentic Black & White" for that classic noir atmosphere or "True-Hue Full Color." To switch modes, simply access the settings or playback options on the episode page. Many critics and fans recommend starting with black and white for the full shadowy immersion that honors the source material's pulp roots.

Early Reviews: Cage Shines in a Stylish Debut

Early reactions praise Cage's go-for-broke performance as the jaded hero, blending humor, intensity, and vulnerability. The show earns strong marks for its atmospheric visuals, strong supporting cast including Lamorne Morris and Brendan Gleeson, and faithful yet innovative noir tone. While some note it leans heavily on style, the consensus highlights it as a fun, binge-worthy addition to the Spider-Verse.
