Scott Eastwood Finally Names the Co-Star He Threatened to “Whoop” on the Set of Fury

Scott Eastwood just opened up about one of the most heated moments of his career, and it involves a very method Shia LaBeouf.

Appearing on the August 3, 2026 episode of Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, Eastwood recounted a tense confrontation that nearly turned physical while filming the 2014 World War II drama Fury. The two actors, both now 40, clashed mid-production after LaBeouf objected to Eastwood’s character spitting tobacco on the tank, an action written directly into the script.

The Moment Everything Boiled Over

Eastwood described LaBeouf as “clearly tormented” and a “very method” performer who pulled out one of his own teeth and cut himself to prepare for the role of Boyd “Bible” Swan. Eastwood said he decided early on to keep his distance. “I remember thinking, ‘Okay, this guy’s crazy. I’m just going to keep clear from this guy because I don’t really play this game.’”

That plan failed one day when LaBeouf, according to Eastwood, was “having an episode” and confronted him over the scripted tobacco spit. Eastwood finally had enough. “I said, ‘F—k you. Stop pulling your s—t. I’m going to whoop your ass.’ And then, you know, he got froggy and everyone broke it up.”

Co-star Brad Pitt stepped in to defuse the situation. Eastwood noted that the incident was not isolated. “Everyone had moments with Shia,” he said, adding that the film industry “attracts psychopaths because it’s art and business and they kind of intersect.”

Why This Story Still Hits Hard a Decade Later

Eastwood first alluded to friction with LaBeouf in a 2014 British GQ interview and again in 2022, but this latest retelling on Armchair Expert marks the clearest public account yet of the exact words exchanged. Pitt had previously described a similar on-set disagreement in the same GQ piece, noting that both he and LaBeouf reacted strongly to the spit because the tank had become “our home” after intense boot-camp preparation.
