Marvel Studios' latest live-action series, Wonder Man, premiered all eight episodes on Disney+ today, January 27, 2026. This Marvel Spotlight project blends superhero action with a satirical look at the entertainment industry, following aspiring actor Simon Williams as he navigates fame, superpowers, and a high-stakes film role.
The story centers on Simon Williams, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who discovers his abilities to generate ionic energy while pursuing a career in Hollywood. He teams up with reformed actor Trevor Slattery, portrayed by Ben Kingsley reprising his role from Iron Man 3 and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Together, they compete for the lead in a remake of the fictional Wonder Man movie, facing challenges like the Doorman Clause that bans superpowered individuals from acting roles.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and others, the series was created by Cretton and Andrew Guest, who serves as showrunner. Production faced delays due to the 2023 strikes but wrapped in 2024. It explores themes of identity, celebrity, and the MCU's expanding universe, with episodes ranging from 26 to 36 minutes.
