Jump Street Jumps Again: From 22 to 24

More than a decade after Schmidt and Jenko hit college, the beloved buddy cop franchise is gearing up for its next mission. Sony Pictures has officially put 24 Jump Street into development, skipping the long-teased 23 to keep the running joke alive.

The Iconic Duo Returns

21 Jump Street (2012) and its sequel 22 Jump Street (2014) delivered massive laughs and box office success, grossing over $500 million worldwide combined. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum starred as mismatched cops Morton Schmidt and Greg Jenko, going undercover first in high school and then college.

The films, directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, became instant comedy classics thanks to the stars' undeniable chemistry and sharp writing.

The Long Road to 24

Plans for a third film have been in the works since shortly after 22 Jump Street. A 23 Jump Street project, once envisioned as a Men in Black crossover, ultimately fell apart due to logistical challenges and high costs. Channing Tatum has publicly praised an earlier script as one of the best he's read for a sequel.

Now, 24 Jump Street moves forward with Rodney Rothman directing from a script co-written with Hill and Meghan Malloy. Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Neal H. Moritz return as producers. Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, and Ice Cube are in talks to reprise their roles as Schmidt, Jenko, and Captain Dickson.

The title nods to the hilarious end-credits stinger in 22 Jump Street, which teased increasingly absurd future assignments including one in Russia.

Why Fans Are Hyped

The Jump Street series redefined the buddy cop genre with meta humor, heartfelt moments, and non-stop action-comedy. Public announcements confirm the core team is reuniting, promising more of the high-energy antics that made the originals must-watch entertainment.
