GTA 6 Delay Confirmed: Rockstar Locks in November 19, 2026

The wait for Grand Theft Auto VI stretched longer than many expected. Rockstar Games has now fixed a firm date after two official postponements, and the studio plus parent company Take-Two Interactive keep reaffirming it.

From 2025 Ambition to a Polished 2026 Launch

Rockstar first targeted a Fall 2025 window when it unveiled the game. In May 2025 the studio shifted the release to May 26, 2026, citing the need for extra polish. Then on November 6, 2025, Rockstar announced a second delay.

The official statement reads: “Grand Theft Auto VI will now release on Thursday, November 19, 2026. We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.”

That date has held. Throughout 2026, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has repeatedly confirmed November 19 remains locked. In May 2026 earnings comments and later shareholder communications he stated the game is on track and marketing was set to ramp in summer.

What Players Can Expect Right Now

GTA 6 launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders opened June 25, 2026. The standard edition is priced at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99. Digital pre-orders include a free month of GTA+ and the Vintage Vice City Pack for purchases made before November 20. Pre-loading begins November 12.

Two official trailers are available. Trailer 1 dropped in December 2023. Trailer 2 arrived May 6, 2025, captured entirely in-game on PlayStation 5 and focusing on protagonists Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos in the state of Leonida.
