Ariana Grande is ready for a pause. Just days after dropping her eighth studio album petal, the Grammy-winning singer and Oscar-nominated actress confirmed through her representative that she will take a “step back from visibility” once her current tour wraps.
The statement, shared with multiple outlets on August 2, 2026, makes her intentions clear: finish strong, then step away from the relentless public gaze that has followed her every move.

Grande’s Eternal Sunshine Tour, her first major arena run in six years, has been a triumph. It launched in June 2026 and has drawn packed houses across North America. The final stretch includes three nights in Chicago this week before a 10-show residency at London’s O2 Arena that ends on September 1.
Her team has emphasized that she continues to deliver high-energy, athletic performances night after night. “She looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily,” the representative said. “This tour has been a beautiful experience for her. She loves her fans and has loved every minute of this tour so much.”
As part of the decision, Grande has withdrawn from the highly anticipated West End revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park with George. She was set to star opposite her Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey as Dot, with Bailey playing George. The production, directed by Marianne Elliott, is still scheduled to open at London’s Barbican Centre in summer 2027. Empire Street Productions confirmed the change and noted that casting for the role will be announced in due course.

The pair had publicly teased the project earlier this year with a joint Instagram photo taken in front of Georges Seurat’s A Sunday on La Grande Jatte at the Art Institute of Chicago, captioned with a lyric from the musical: “All it has to be is good.”
The representative directly linked the decision to “endless, ongoing public scrutiny.” In recent months, online conversation about Grande’s appearance intensified, particularly after the release of the “petal” music video on July 31. Fans and observers commented extensively on her frame in the visual, which features dramatic, blood-soaked imagery exploring themes of fame, judgment, and artistic pressure.

Grande has not issued a personal statement on the matter, and no medical details have been confirmed publicly. Her team has repeatedly noted that she performs at a high physical level and is completing the tour as planned.

The move marks a deliberate choice to prioritize privacy after years of near-constant visibility, including the Wicked films, awards campaigns, album releases, and now a full tour cycle. Fans have largely responded with support, hoping the break gives her space to recharge.
Grande is still scheduled to appear in the upcoming film Focker-in-Law opposite Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller, set for a late November 2026 release. Whether she participates in promotional appearances remains to be seen.
For now, the focus is on closing the Eternal Sunshine Tour with the same passion she has brought to every stage. After that, Ariana Grande is choosing a quieter chapter.
